ultimo concierto

“S-S-S-So-So-Soda Stereo… Buenos Aires, Argentina”

I just got my copy of Soda Stereo’s El Ultimo Concierto DVD open link in new window in the mail today and I’m quivering in delight. I immediately popped it in my DVD drive here at work and, of course, I got about five applications trying to play it at once! I eventually used my trusty VLC media player open link in new window to play each VOB file. The DVD playing software on my PC is for crap so I had to view the individual files on the DVD and play each chapter by itself.

This DVD makes my year! I remember when they came to Chicago so long ago, I wasn’t able to go. This DVD at least gives me a small taste of what that concert must have been like. And the extras! Oh, just to look at Cerati sing and listen to him being interviewed (with his sexy Argentinean accent). I truly admire Gustavo as an artist and as a human being. He is my one true favorite artist. Here’s a screen grab I made from the DVD of Gustavo playing guitar, click to view it larger in a new window.

Any time that I’m having a bad day I know I can pop this baby in and it will make me feel a thousand times better. I”m in heaven!

planta

A Soda Stereo song translated.

This is a great and hypnotic song, it’s called Planta written by two members of Soda Stereo in their Sueño Stereo open link in new window album.

Soda Stereo – Planta
(Plant)

Me resisto
a empujarte a otro juego de azar
en el aire reverbera el ansia de mi voz

Mi voz vegetal
vegetal
Amor vegetal

Wise sap over my body
like Acapulcan gold
I am preparing myself
I don’t know what’s going on
that I can’t return
(to listen… to listen…)

Much traveling among the branches
now covering my wounds
there wasn’t sufficient faith
one time a week
to listen… to listen…

My vegetable voice
I need my feet tied up today
In the air I know I am nothing less
than what I can be
I resist pushing you to another game of chance
In the air, the anxiety in my voice reverberates

My vegetable voice
vegetable
Vegetable love

sony/bmg crap

In case you haven’t heard.

Here’s a BoingBoing entry that has links to stories on Sony’s Digital Rights Management software that gets installed on your computer from several of their audio CDs and the hell that came from it:
Sony anti-customer technology roundup and time-line open link in new window.

Also there’s a Wired article on a man who is trying to find all computers infected by Sony’s crap rootkit:
Sony Numbers Add Up to Trouble open link in new window.

Boycott! Here’s how to tell which audio CDs are infected:
Are You Infected by Sony-BMG’s Rootkit? open link in new window.

Update: It turns out that the Tainted Sony CDs Used Open Source open link in new window which means that Sony/BMG used open-source software to create the copyright protection rootkit which is a contradiction.

the ultimate tease song

A song by Gustavo Cerati

Here are the lyrics to the song Amo dejarte asi by Gustavo Cerati from his Siempre es Hoy open link in new windowalbum.

Gustavo Cerati – Amo dejarte asi
(Love to leave you like this)

Divina obscenidad
Dar el maximo de piel
Sin librarte de mi

Amo dejarte asi.
Palabras profanas
de tu boca pura
Toda mi dulzura
pendula sobre ti.

Amo dejarte asi.
Amo quedarme asi.
Amo dejarte asi.
Amo quedarme asi.

Divine obscenity
Give the maximum of skin
without liberating you of me

Love to leave you like this.
Profane words
from your pure mouth
All my sweetness
pendulates over you.

Love to leave you like this
Love to stay like this
Love to leave you like this
Love to stay like this

© 2003 Gustavo Cerati

I never realized the lyrics were so simple. They’re very sensuos as they describe a couple either before or during a sex act. Teasing plays a large part in a sexual relationship, in any kind of relationship. He sings about giving just enough to keep his lover wanting more. The deliciousness of having your lover slowly swinging above you like a pendulum but never touching.

Also, I’m sure we’ve all been in situations where “profane words” spill out of our mouths during those heated moments. You simply must listen to the song to get the full effect.
