people I hate

Just an FYI, you’re ok.

I don’t like people that dominate the conversation. All they talk about is themselves and their lives. There’s this one person I know who does this; I’m going to call this person ‘tree.’ Whenever tree is around, tree always finds a way to become the focus of the conversation. Always. You could be talking about serpentine lava flow that melted your eyebrows (ha!), and tree would say, “that’s funny because this one time…”

Not only would tree begin to dominate the conversation, but tree would also stall the story until everyone was paying attention and continue telling the story with more animation and excitement. One time, I had a side conversation at a low voice with someone in the group and it was funny how tree would pick up on this and become subtly annoyed. People are weird sometimes and I love to watch them being weird.

well damn

What’s the pop-up blocker in this case?

You just knew it was going to happen, you just didn’t think it would actually happen: TiVo tests pop-up-style ads open link in new window. I always imagined that the tv shows would eventually become like The Truman Show open link in new window. Remember? Where the show integrated the ad into the characters’ scripts? Sad. But now, even TiVo won’t help you skip ads. :what?:

reboot your designs

I might just have to sign up to give myself a deadline.

Sign up to participate in the community of individuals that will redesign their flash or html website by May 2, 2005.

The May 1st Reboot open link in new window is a community project that brings together web professionals from all over and encourages them to collectively launch redesigns of their sites on May 1st. The only problem is the entries are all extremely Flash heavy. Sure, Flash has its place — but where’s the CSS and web standards representation?

So this year CSS Reboot open link in new window will attempt to bring together web professionals who design with CSS and standards in mind to launch their redesigns on May 1st along with all the Flash designers. This way we can both participate and show everyone just how great semantic, accessible design can be.

CSS Reboot open link in new window

I don’t think I’ll make the deadline, but I’ll mark my calendar to check out other web designers’ work.

Chicago’s hot spots

The hot spots to get free wi-fi in Chicago.

Chicago Free Fi open link in new window is a website that lists the free wi-fi spots in and around the Chicago area, including many suburbs. Looking for other cities? Go to Metro Free Fi open link in new window and click the map to find your city. You can also add hots spots you know of that may not be listed or add comments and pictures of those already listed.

I might add have added the RSS feed from the Chicago Free Fi website to my list of web news.
