database troubles

I guess I really don’t know what I’m doing.

I have been trying to add my links list into a database. I created it using MS Access and then had to convert to a SQL database because that’s what my hosts will accept. Well, I suffered because I didn’t know what I was doing. I had to export my DB as a CSV file then create a table on my server and import the data into the new table. :what?:

This was after I spent about an hour importing the table into my SQL server at work. That did a whole lotta nothing because I didn’t know why I even did that for in the first place! Now I hope to create a page that will connect to the new DB and create the links list page; plus a page where I can log in and edit rows in the table. Right. I’ll be needing A LOT of help on that.

  2. Because, silly, you weren’t in yesterday! ‘Sides, I’m aiming for PHP and you’re aiming for ASP. My host doesn’t do ASP, since they run Apache.

  3. Apache dosnt negate ASP, your host just dosnt run Mono or Blue Dragon.

  4. Did I say negate? I didn’t say negate. My host’s servers don’t support ASP. Plus, my host hasn’t had much of a demand for it. And, no, I won’t install anything myself even tho I could so don’t go there or I’ll have to hurt you. :razz:

    Seems like it to me ;)

    You couldnt install mono w/o ‘root’, if your host was installing stuff on a persons request, or giving you access to do that, id say find a new host. :P

  6. Why would I want to install that or anything else for something I will never use on my own website? Plus, I will never want or need root access unless I had my own server, which I don’t want. Besides, you will never convince me that your host is better than my host! :D Uh-oh, did I just open another can of worms?!
