happy turkey day!
Well, I haven’t been in…
Well, I haven’t been in lately cuz it’s been a busy week. Monday my man & I attended a wake for the late Hector Perez. He’s an old friend of ours from back in the day. He stopped hanging around with the crew and supposedly turned Ambro (that’s a gang). So he was found dead Saturday and Monday was the wake.
Then Tuesday was the funeral mass & burial so we attended those too. Then Wednesday I went back to work and it was a busy day plus we were let out at 3pm. Then I came home and bought all the stuff needed for a lasagna recipe I found online. It sounds good, plus tells you how to make the sauce fresh & not from a bottle.
Thanksgiving is at my mom’s house today instead of mine cuz last year it was at mine’s. Last year the turkey was still frozen on the inside the DAY of thanksgiving! I spent like three hours rinsing & rinsing in lukewarm water to try to de-frost the innards.
That was so funny now that I look back! And my dad gave the speech before dinner and made me & my mom’s & a few others cry.
He talked about how time flies, how your kids grow up & leave you. And how the next thing you know you & your wife are looking at each other across the dinner table alone. Man, I broke down like the little girl that I am inside! Just solid t e a r s!
I hope this year is the same, warm & loving. Where you don’t even have a seat for everyone but you end up all fitting at the dinner table somehow or another. It’s going to be me, my man, his two sisters, his two brothers, his mom, his dad, my mom, my dad, and my sister. One of my aunts & one cousin & my last gramma left (my mom’s mom) came over from Mexico to take care of my gramma’s papers here so she can visit anytime she wants from over there.
Right now they’re over my other aunt’s house visiting her cuz my cousin there has a little girl & that makes my gramma a GREAT gramma. Man, I gotta pop out some kids soon!
Okay, so enjoy the turkey day. And remember, no matter how bad it gets, it could always be worse. But only you can make it better and it won’t be the same without you!
